Hello dear blog!
Right now I’m getting sewing withdrawals. Is that even a thing? I’m defiantly very stressed right now with all the assignments and tests from Uni. This will all go away in a few weeks thankfully. I honestly did not expect to be this stressed so early on in the semester.

Today I am back to Uni for my final year of nursing school. Mixed emotions happening. I’m mostly excited as the end is near and I’m over doing nothing for 3months+! But I’m also nervous about the workload this semester. Staying organised will be my main priority!
Whenever I write up posts on patterns that I’ve created, I try and remember about how I came across the pattern. This time, I have no recollection about how I came across the pattern for this bag. Perhaps it was some late night Googling?
Today I am showing you the ‘Petrillo Bag‘ by Sara Lawson a.k.a. Sew Sweetness. My favourite project this summer. All fabrics are from Spotlight, however the lining was from years ago.
I decided to give the Double Pleat skirt a go once I saw how young & cute it looked in Jona Giammalva‘s book The Essential A-Line.
I thought I would trial it first with some scrap fabric in my stash. I was given a whole heap of fabric from a friend of my mum who was moving house. It is more lighter colour in person than in the photos below.
I recently came across this cute purse pattern by Straight Stitch Society on Hart’s Fabric Blog. I thought I would give it ago myself. I purchased the downloadable pattern here. The pattern is fairly straight forward except that it does not use any metric units (centimetres or millimetres) which is what we use here in Australia. Very annoying. The illustrated diagrams do defiantly help.

Shout-out to Spotlight for having both these books for only $4.99 each! I was in Spotlight to buy some press stud closures for a purse I was making (stay tuned for that post!) and I wanted to checkout what books they had. (I had previously seen these in another store in the sale section for $4.99 but unfortunately where still their full price) 😦 I was so ecstatic to see that this time they were actually on sale! Major bargain! Even the cashier was surprised!
I recently got a copy of the Burdastyle Handbook for Christmas thanks to my sister. After flicking through the projects with my mum, she asked if I would make her the bag.
